North Wales Borderlands launches unique social campaign using Geocaching

North Wales Borderlands have launched ‘The Great North Wales Borderlands Adventure Trail’; an integrated social campaign which embraces the growing pastime of Geocaching.

North Wales Borderlands has been working with Chester-based Prodo Digital to launch the campaign and are the first tourism organisation in the UK to adopt geocaching into a digital campaign.

Geocaching takes the concept of the treasure hunt into the 21st century, as players try to locate hidden containers – ‘geocaches’ – using their iPhone, the Geocache app and website combined with GPS-enabled devices

Ten ‘caches’ have been hidden at popular tourist attractions and locations across the region. Participants are encouraged to visit as many caches as they can, to unearth goodies at each cache site. For users who find all ten caches, they can choose to enter a prize draw to win a weekend away.
